EventHorizon - Frequently Asked Questions
General
Why can't I see my iPhone's calendar information?
We would love to be able to show the built-in Apple calendar information in EventHorizon, but unfortunately Apple does not provide access to this information for third-party developers. If Apple ever allows access to the built-in calendar in the future, we will endeavour to add this support to EventHorizon.
How do I add birthdays and anniversaries for my contacts?
The Contacts categories in EventHorizon literally read their info from your address book, so you need to edit your contacts in the address book application and add birthdays, anniversaries there. If you go into your address book and choose a person, then tap Edit, then scroll to the bottom and tap the "Add field" button, you should now see buttons for "Birthday" and "Date". Tap these to enter the dates for this contact. Next time you start EventHorizon you should see them appear in the Contacts categories.
How do I show the age for birthdays, anniversaries?
Tap the Settings icon and then scroll down until you see the category that contains your birthdays
and anniversaries. Tap on the category to view the settings for that category and switch on the "Show Ages"
setting.
NOTE: Ages will only be displayed in reminders for all-day, repeating, annual events
which belong to a category with its "Show Ages" setting enabled.
Why are some of the displayed ages incorrect?
The upcoming age displayed in reminders (if enabled) is calculated from the event's start date. If the starting year is incorrect then the calculated age will also be incorrect. Ages for Contacts events can be corrected by editing the relevant date in the address book.
I don't know the exact start year for all of my contacts birthdays, how can I hide the incorrect ages?
Set all unknown start years to the Show Ages Cutoff Year, which by default is set to 1900. Any events with this start year (or earlier) will not have their age displayed in their reminders. If you really need to display ages with a start year of 1900 or earlier, the cutoff value can be changed in the Settings area.
Can I change the ordering of my reminders?
No, the reminders display has been designed to group your reminders by urgency first, then reminders at each level of urgency are ordered by date of occurrence.
What happens when I disable a category?
Disabled categories (including their events and reminders) are hidden from view but their data remains intact. This might be useful if you don't need to see reminders for a particular category for a while but you don't want to delete the category. Categories can easily be disabled and re-enabled in the Settings area.
Can I change the category icons?
You can download new icons into EventHorizon to customize your categories. All icons will automatically be resized to 32x32. Please see the support page for more information.
How do I delete custom category icons?
Go to the Settings area and tap a category, then tap the icon to display the list of available icons. Swipe your finger (left to right) across the icon you want to delete. You should see a delete button appear. You can only remove custom icons if they are not being used by any other categories.
I have forgotten my passcode, can you help me?
For security reasons, there is no way to recover lost passcodes. For this reason it is imperative that you remember your passcode if you choose to use one.
